Rocky Hill Meet provides close competition

By webmaster - Posted on 07 May 2008

Yesterday's meet with Rocky Hill and Northwest Catholic proved to be a very evenly balanced competition, with each team scoring close results with each other.  The Redcoats fell to both Rocky  Hill and Northwest Catholic, but were extremely competitive in each event, especially the Hurdles and Throws.  Jared Breindel picked up his first overall win of the season in the 110 Hurdles and Dan Erickson won the 300 Hurdles.  Justin Ronciaoli continued his quest to qualify for the states in the 1600 and 3200, inching closer to the standard of qualification.  Meanwhile in the throws, Nick DeLoia nearly broke 40 feet in the shot put and Jack Banks is becoming a consistent performer at over 120 ft.  Steve Nelson threw his best in Javelin by breaking 120 ft.   In the jumps, Ian Vandergulik and Mark Jolley had breakthrough days.  Vandergulik jumped 36 ft in the triple jump and Jolley cleared 5-4 and nearly won the high jump  which was decided on tie breakers.

The Redcoat's next action is Thursday May 8 at Fermi HS.
